Melt Out® Fabric Systems
Overhead Fabric Solutions for Exhibits, Events, and Retail Environments
Melt Out® is a stretchable overhead fabric system designed for exhibitions, trade show booths, museum displays, retail installations, and other environments requiring lightweight, adaptable ceiling structures.
The system supports modular, fully customizable designs that can be configured in circular, curved, or dimensional forms using lightweight aluminum tubing. Fabric can be produced in pillowcase, double-sided, and zippered configurations to accommodate a range of structural and visual requirements.
The fabric’s surface diffuses and softens light while providing broad overhead coverage, helping define the visual character of an installation and conceal overhead mechanical systems.
Melt Out® is a woven synthetic textile incorporating a fusible thread that runs continuously along the length of the fabric. These fusible threads are positioned at 12-inch intervals across the width of the material.
When exposed to temperatures of approximately 160°F or higher, the fusible threads activate and allow the fabric to contract along the designated seams. In a properly engineered suspended installation, this creates openings across the ceiling plane that allow heat and smoke to pass upward toward sprinkler heads.
As the fabric contracts, the material gathers into narrow, bunched sections, substantially reducing the obstruction beneath the suspended ceiling. Should the sprinkler system activate, the resulting openings allow sprinkler discharge to pass through the fabric with minimal interference.
Melt Out® is designed with these fusible seams as an integral part of the material’s fire-performance characteristics and installation methodology. Applications should always be
System Applications
Melt Out® systems are typically suspended horizontally across an overhead area to create a finished ceiling plane while concealing mechanical systems and other overhead infrastructure. The fabric perimeter is secured to the supporting structure, with additional suspension points incorporated as needed to maintain the desired form and tension.
The system can be adapted to a wide range of architectural and exhibit requirements, including:

Melt Out® fabric systems are supplied in bulk rolls for wholesale event production specialists, exhibit fabricators, and qualified installation partners. Retail quantities are not currently available directly from Melt Out®.
